Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer to Deliver Keynote Address at FAMU Law’s 2022 Hooding Ceremony

ORLANDO, Fla - The 17th Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Law Hooding Ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will serve as the keynote speaker. Dyer, who has served as Mayor of the City of Orlando since 2003, is also a member of FAMU Law’s Dean’s Advisory Council.

Mayor Dyer has made it a top priority to ensure that all residents are treated equally, are equally protected and have equitable access to opportunity.

Prior to being elected Mayor, he served for a decade in the Florida Senate. Mayor Dyer earned his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Brown University and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Florida College of Law.

Shanice Cameron is being recognized as the valedictorian. The Bronx, New York native will also serve as student speaker at the ceremony.

FAMU President Larry Robinson, Ph.D. and FAMU College of Law Dean Deidré A. Keller are scheduled to provide remarks and special recognitions. FAMU Senate President Ann Marie Cavazos is on the program to bring greetings from the Board of Trustees.

One hundred and thirty-four graduates from the Fall 2021, Spring 2022 and Summer 2022 classes will be recognized. Professor of Law Patricia Broussard is tasked with hooding the graduates. Associate Dean Markita Cooper will announce the student names, while Associate Dean Jonathan Fineman and Associate Dean Reginald Green will assist with the ceremony.
