ORLANDO, Fla – Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Law’s 2023 class valedictorian is Gregory Marlowe from Lake Wales, Florida. Marlowe is a full-time law clerk at Wicker, Smith, O’Hara, McCoy and Ford. His work focuses on medical malpractice defense.

During law school, Marlowe has received several highest-grade letters. He has used his knowledge to tutor courses including civil procedure, evidence and contracts.

Marlowe was a junior editor for Law Review and wrote a comment criticizing the 11th Circuit’s application of the heightened pleading standard to relator claims under the False Claims Act.  He also wrote a student note advocating for Congress to resolve increasing gamesmanship of the Speedy Trial Act by mirroring Florida’s speedy trial rule.

Marlowe and his classmates are preparing for FAMU Law’s Hooding Ceremony on Saturday, May 13, at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. He will be recognized during the annual ceremony that will feature more than 100 graduates. The keynote speaker is Judge Faye Allen of the Ninth Judicial Circuit.

Marlowe looks forward to sitting for the Florida Bar Exam in July.  He is proud of his education at FAMU Law and the honor of being a Rattler for Justice.

"To me, being a Rattler for Justice means advocating for social justice, advocating for the voiceless, and fighting for equity in the legal system.  It means using the law to effect positive change in my community and standing up against injustice.  As a Rattler for Justice, I am committed to using my skills as a lawyer to pursuing justice for all."

He says his best accomplishment is being a proud father and husband.
