FAMU Law announces summer 2022 episode of award winning Legal Connections

Featuring segment with attorney Bruce Mount on how to survive police encounters

ORLANDO, Fla – Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Law announces its summer lineup for Legal Connections.

Host Kimra Major-Morris interviews FAMU Law alum and attorney Bruce Mount on surviving encounters with police. This is a timely topic with cases of police encounters covered in the national news. It’s a sensitive and controversial topic that Mount discusses with youngsters at speaking engagements. “We talk about your rights. During the law enforcement encounter, at this point, it is about survival. It is about getting home and calling your lawyer to handle the situation for you,” said Mount.

The summer 2022 episode of Legal Connections also features the following segments:

  • FAMU Law’s Legal Clinic Director Mark Dorosin provides a closer look at the services being offered at the clinic as students receive first-hand experience in the legal field.
  • Dean Deidré Keller interviews attorney Kimra Major-Morris about important information churches need to know concerning new copyright laws. Major Morris is an Intellectual Property attorney and has written a book about church copyrights.
  • Southern University Law Center student Omarosa Manigault-Newman talks about her desire to become a lawyer and encourages women to pursue their dreams.
  • FAMU President Larry Robinson, Ph.D. and Dean Deidré Keller unveiled FAMU Law’s Judges Gallery. The display features photos of 11 alumni judges who are currently serving on the bench in Florida, Georgia and Missouri. The Judges Gallery also features alumni judges who previously served on the bench.

Legal Connections is a creative partnership between FAMU Law and Orange TV. Legal Connections is currently airing on Orange TV in Orlando and FAMU TV 20 in Tallahassee. Legal Connections won a silver Telly Award in 2021 for coverage of the Ocoee Massacre.
