Strong writing skills are foundational for success in law school and the legal profession. As law students, learning how to communicate effectively on paper is critical to becoming a successful legal practitioner.
Florida A&M University’s College of Law’s Writing Center seeks to help students become exceptional legal writers by providing them with the opportunity to refine their foundational writing skills and to reinforce key concepts in their legal writing.
The Writing Center assists students in improving their writing through 1 on 1 meetings and writing workshops. At the Writing Center, the Writing Director Teresa Mule, is available to assist students with writing skills involving organization, style, grammar, punctuation, and usage and with topics such as:
In addition, Legal Research and Writing Student Assistants are available at the Writing Center to help students hone their legal writing skills and legal analysis skills. 1L students may receive assistance on legal writing assignments, as permitted by their Legal Research and Writing professor, and with general questions relating to legal writing concepts including proper structure for written legal analysis, citation form, persuasive versus objective legal writing, and research methods. Upper-level students may receive assistance with legal briefs, seminar papers, and writing samples.
