ORLANDO, FL- Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Law faculty members and library staff coordinated a children’s book drive that resulted in a donation of more than 250 children’s books to the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE School) in the Parramore community of Orlando.
“This is a joint effort by our FAMU Law faculty to the children of the ACE School and it is a gift of love,” said FAMU Law professor Dr. Patricia Broussard. “We are a part of the neighborhood and just wanted to remind the students we are rooting for them to succeed. And reading is the key to success.”
FAMU Law faculty and library staff donated money to purchase books from Scholastic Books in Lake Mary. FAMU Law faculty delivered boxes of books to the ACE School on Monday morning for the school’s use.
“On behalf of the FAMU Law Library, it is our privilege to participate in the FAMU Cares Book Drive to benefit students at the ACE School,” said Yolanda Jones, FAMU Law Director of Law Library/Associate Director of Law. “Reading is vital. The FAMU Law Library supports reading and literacy programs and encourages both children and adults to read as much as possible. This holiday season we are delighted to share the gift of books to the deserving students at the Academic Center for Excellence.”

ABOUT FAMU LAW
The college’s prime location provides students with direct access to the area’s largest employers of individuals with law degrees, offering our students and graduates ample avenues to gain practical experience in the legal profession.
With tuition among the lowest of the 13 law schools in Florida, along with a full-time day program and a part-time evening program, the college is distinctly positioned to offer the traditional student and the working professional a chance to earn a law degree while accruing minimal debt.
The College of Law’s student body is diverse – more than 70 percent minority and more than 50 percent women – helping to enrich a campus community where intellectual freedom and self-discovery are encouraged. Thanks to its renowned faculty, the college focuses on academic excellence in the classroom; emphasizes practical experience and public service within its clinical programs; and stresses professionalism through its co-curricular activities.
