FAMMail FAQ

 

What is a FAMNet ID? – Your FAMNet ID is the account that all FAMU faculty, staff and students must have in order to access email services (FAMMail), as well as dial-up and wireless internet services.  Your FAMNet ID is separate from your OurFAMU account.

What is FAMMail ? - FAMMail is the official communication service of Florida A&M University.  It provides users email access from the Internet or from an email client their choice.  Your email address will be yourFAMNetID@famu.edu.

What about space restrictions? - There are disk space quotas on your email account (250MB for students and 350MB for faculty and staff).  If you exceed your allotted space you will no longer be able to send or receive email.

How often do I have to change my password? – Passwords are valid for 90 days after it was assigned or last changed.  Failure to change your password will result in you not being able to use you FAMNet account.

My Password has expired what do I do now?

For password Reset you have two options:

  1.   Download the Password Reset Manager Document and follow the instructions.
  2.   Call Email Assistance – 412-7476 or 407-254-3270

 What web browsers can I use?FAMMail has been known to work with Internet Explorer 5.5 and up (for Windows and Macintosh), Safari (for Macintosh), Firefox, and Netscape Navigator 4.7 and higher.  Of these, Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator have been tested and approved by Microsoft.  The AOL web browser is not recommended or supported due to security reasons.

Will having a pop-up blocker affect my ability to use FAMMail ? – Yes.  In order to get the most out of your FAMMail email service, you will need to add the famu.edu domain to the listing of websites you want to allow pop-ups from.

What’s the difference between the “Premium” and “Basic” client? – The Premium client allows users to take advantage of all of Outlook Web Access’ features; however, it only will work with Windows Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher and a high-speed internet connection.  The Basic client should be used if a user has slow network connectivity.  This client does not offer as many features as the Premium client.
